Haas TM-1 Y Ballscrew Cover Replacement
The Y Ballscrew Cover on the Haas TM-1 was damaged. Only the rear one needed replacement in my case, but that is the more difficult one to replace, because the Haas instructions say to remove the ballscrew and servo motor.
Watch this video to see how I was able to change it without all the extra work of removing the ball screw.
REAR BALL SCREW COVER
I decided to just purchase the correct kit sold by HAAS, because it wasn't that much more, and I knew that it would be a perfect fit. (And McMaster didn't have the correct length).
BUY FROM HAAS
Price (as of 01-2022) $145.00
Haas Part# 93-1269
Description: TM Y-AXIS BSCREW CVR KIT (Rear ONLY)
Centry Cover catalog number is 224, Metric Part # 040-0600-050
Inside Diameter - 1.5 inches
Extended Length - 24 inches
Compressed Length - 2.00 inches
Outside Diameter - 2.5 inches
These measurements do not coincide with an available McMaster part #, therefore it is best to buy from Haas or direct from Centry Cover.
FRONT BALL SCREW COVER
In a forum, someone suggested that this telescoping bellows from Mcmaster would work. It appears to be the correct size for the front, but they do not have one for the rear.
NOTE: I have not purchased a front cover from HAAS, so I do not know what Centry Cover model they ship.
The McMaster part number coincides with:
Centry Cover Catalog number 218, Metric Part # 040-0450-050
Inside Diameter - 1.5 inches
Extended Length - 18 inches
Compressed Length - 2.00 inches
Outside Diameter - 2.38 inches
Metal Telescoping Bellows, 1-1/2" ID, 2-3/8" OD
Price (as of 01-2022) $97.07
I decided to just purchase the correct kit sold by HAAS, because it wasn't that much more, and I knew that it would be a perfect fit.
