How To Collect Rainwater And Store It For Watering Garden Plants And Other Uses Around The House

Harvesting rainwater is the easiest way to reduce your city or groundwater consumption.

If you already have gutters, you will need 2 main things to start collecting rainwater.

  1. A rainwater diverter that diverts rainwater from your gutter into a storage tank.

  2. Storage tank to store rainwater. 50 gallon minimum recommended.

This is how I installed a rainwater diverter on my gutter downspout to fill a 275-gallon IBC tote tank. The rainwater diverter used in this video is the Flex-Drain 37043 Catch-A-Raindrop Rainwater Colander Kit, 3 x 4-Inch, White. This will only fit metal 3x4 inch gutters.
